Many songs on this album have become
ACDC classics. The guitar is clear but hard rockin as ever the
sound of this one just blasts. I think the boys knew they had
some premium stuff and you can hear it in the excitement of the
music.
This album was produced by Bruce Fairbairn and it had a nice
fresh sound that sent this album to number 2 status. The Razors
Edge went multi-platinum in only 1 year. Bruce produced
successful albums for Aerosmith, Poison and Bon Jovi in the
past. Hooking up with this new producer was definitely a new
step in a good direction.
Thunderstruck starts out the album with that famous fast little
lick angus plays repetitively while Brian belts out thunder and
aaaaaa aaaaaa ahhhhh ahhhhhh ahhhh ahhhhhaaaaaa. The first time
I heard this song I figured ACDC was going to hit the charts
again. I went out and purchased the album and I knew for sure,
this one rocked.
Money Talks also made the top 40 did just what the songs said it
was going to do, listen to the money talk. This song has a great
hard driving riff with that distinctive ACDC raw ACDC voice.
The title track is the forth song and it may not have been a top
40 hit but it's good one. Interesting rhythm changes, leads and
licks change throughout the song. It's really cool. The crisp
sound of Angus's new sound cuts through like a razors edge. I
think they actually named the album after Angus's new sound.
Mistress For Christmas has been my favorite Christmas song since
the release of The Razors Edge. My woman don't seem to share the
same zeal for this Christmas song as I do but that's her loss,
hahhaha. Once again that sharp hard rocking sound prevails. This
stuff is so tight and delicious.
Are You Ready gets the house rocking after a short soft intro
that briefly sounds like Love Hungry man from Highway To Hell.
The basic tone is similar to fly on the wall but a little more
subtle on the echo. The sound they capture is no less than
premium ACDC. Brian uses a few subtle voice effects and they're
mixed in quite tastefully.
There aren't any bad songs on this album, I highly recommend The
Razors Edge to any ACDC fan, you can't go wrong. It rocks from
first song to last, all killer no filler a genuine ACDC
thriller.
